MMCRU Boys Basketball Plays Complete Game, Advances to District Final

The MMCRU boys basketball team punched their ticket to the district final with a 67-50 win over IKM-Manning in Marcus on Thursday night.

The Royals had good timing for their most complete game of the season. From the middle part of the first quarter to the final buzzer, MMCRU’s defense and offense were clicking on all cylinders. The performance left head coach Cam Kuchel with nothing to complain about.

Once the Royals got to the second quarter, they were off and running offensively. MMCRU outscored IKM-Manning 22-10 in the second quarter to take a 15-point lead into the locker room and never get it back with in seven. Coach Kuchel says the big key to that success was being really intentional and careful with the basketball.

Brayson Mulder led the Royals with 21 points offensively, but Jace Colling was the difference-maker in the second half. He finished the game with 13 points with 11 of those coming in the second half. Coach Kuchel says he was already a great defender and has made some great strides in offensive production.

The Royals advance to the district final where they will take on South O’Brien. The matchup is slated for a 7:00 PM start on Tuesday, February 20 in Cherokee.
