Le Mars Football wins second-straight game with 35-2 rout of B-H/RV

The Le Mars Community football team won their second-consecutive game on Friday night with a 35-2 home win over Boyden-Hull/Rock Valley.

The trend in this two-game winning streak has been finding open targets through the air. The Bulldogs have now scored five times through the air in their last two games, and three different guys hauled in touchdown receptions against the Nighthawks. Andrew Grant had two catches for 94 yards and a touchdown in the win. Le Mars head coach Ken Vigdal says he fits the mold of the type of receiver that his team thrives on.

The Bulldogs handily won the game by handily winning the turnover margin. The Nighthawks threw three interceptions and fumbled one away while the Bulldogs did not give the ball away. Coach Vigdal says that always sets a team up for success.

While the passing attack got a lot of the praise for the win, the rushing attack deserved its fair share as well. Jude Dougherty averaged nearly 12 yards per carry while scoring twice to lead the Bulldog ground attack. Coach Vigdal says he is a great combination of speed and vision that makes him a weapon.

Le Mars is now 2-1 on the season with their final non-district game taking them to Orange City for a matchup with MOC-Floyd Valley. The Dutchmen handed Le Mars their only non-district loss last year, and Coach Vigdal knows the guys will need to be ready so that does not happen again.

Kickoff will be at 7:00 PM in Orange City on Friday, September 20. KLEM Radio will have coverage of the game beginning at 6:15 with the Radio Iowa Scouting Report.
