HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES

BURN BAN FOR PLYMOUTH COUNTY

A burn ban goes in effect for Plymouth County today.  Le Mars Fire Chief Dave Schipper worked with the State Fire Marshall’s Office yesterday to put the county in the burn ban because of the dry and windy conditions.
Schipper says they have answered several calls in the last few days for grass and field fires.  The Le Mars Fire Chief says the ban does not affect grilling or backyard fire pits that follow proper guidelines.
Schipper advises farmers who are harvesting to take special precautions.
Several Northwest Iowa Counties are under a “Fire Weather Watch” through this evening.

The annual competition for the title of Iowa’s Best Breaded Pork Tenderloin has been whittled down to just five finalists across the state, included one restaurant right here in Northwest Iowa.  The Bronson Bar in Bronson is still in the running for this coveted title.  There were 532 restaurants nominated for the 22nd annual contest.  This summer , judging commenced for the top 40, which was then narrowed to five including the Bronson Bar.  The winning restaurant and runner-up will be announced later in October during the celebration of Porktober, or national pork month.  The winning restaurant will receive $500, a plaque, and statewide publicity—which has been known to send pork tenderloin sales hog wild.
