Gehlen Catholic boys basketball prepares for a new season

The Gehlen Catholic boys basketball team went through a transition year with new head coach Ryan Wiltgen. Now that he and his players have a year of experience to build off of, the Jays are looking for better outcomes in the new season. Coach Wiltgen says the guys are bigger and stronger and better prepared for the new season.

In the post, the Jays have gotten better as well. Carson Arens returns as someone who was known to stretch the floor last year. The Jays also add Mason Small who was a work in progress as a freshman. Coach Wiltgen says they both have added wrinkles to their game to be better this year.

Gehlen is just as deep in the backcourt as well. Guard play will not have its shortages this season according to Coach Wiltgen who says the Jays will be long at that position too.

With a year of experience, the Jays are better in tune with game situations that should lead to better outcomes this year. Coach Wiltgen says the key will be being mentally engaged to avoid easily fixable mistakes.

Gehlen Catholic opens their season tonight at home against Lawton-Bronson.
