The Kingsley-Pierson boys basketball team won the Western Valley Conference last year with a very young roster. This year, the guys are now seasoned players that want to continue the momentum. Head coach Lance Howe says those returning veterans paired with some young talent coming up through the ranks will make his team a fun one to coach.
It was no secret last year that the Panthers ran through Beau Goodwin. He averaged 17 points per game and eight rebounds a game to lead the Panthers every night. Coach Howe says he is not looking for someone to average that on their own, but he does need to see everyone doing their part to pick up the slack.
If there was one aspect the Panthers struggled at last year, it was perimeter shooting. Kingsley-Pierson shot under 30% from the outside which did not allow them to stretch the floor consistently. Coach Howe says that will hopefully change this year.
The biggest thing this year for the Panthers will be to be in every game at the end. Coach Howe says if his guys can do that, then this will be a pretty great season.
The Panthers open their season tonight in Kingsley against Lawton-Bronson.
