The Le Mars Community girls wrestling team won a pair of MRAC duals at home on senior night Thursday night. The Bulldogs beat Council Bluffs TJ 60-6 and Sioux City West 40-24.
Council Bluffs TJ only had one wrestler, so the Bulldogs were guaranteed to win that dual. They were not guaranteed a win over West who had finished better than them at the MRAC tournament earlier in the season. Le Mars head coach Greer Milledge says he wanted the girls to respond well after a pair of tough duals on Monday.
It was close after the lighter weights with Le Mars leading the dual 22-12. That is when Marilyn Roller and Kerene Panya came in and scored a couple of big pins to help secure a Bulldog win. Coach Milledge says those two had to deal with adversity and took it in stride.
The Bulldogs have a quick turnaround with their home invitational tonight. Coach Milledge says it will be a tough tournament, and the girls will have to dig deep to finish the week strong.
The tournament begins at 4:00 PM at the Le Mars Community competition gym. KLEM Radio will air updates from the tournament all throughout the evening.
