Bulldog girls basketball wins second in a row with massive scoring output from bench

The Le Mars Community girls basketball team picked up their second win a row with a 56-52 win at Sergeant Bluff-Luton on Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs trailed at the half after squandering some opportunities early in the game. Le Mars head coach Sydney Baumgartner says the girls were just trying to do too much early in the game.

As the game progressed, the Dogs played looser. The bench really came alive in the second half with over half of Le Mars’ points coming from bench players. Mya Skov scored 16 points and Grace Westhoff had 13 points to lead the bench scoring. Coach Baumgartner says both of those players played up to their potential.

The Bulldogs now get three home games against tough opponents to finish out the month of January. Coach Baumgartner says the Bulldogs need to keep doing the things they did against the Warriors to have success.

Le Mars improves to 4-9 overall with the win and is now in fifth in the MRAC at 4-4.
