The Le Mars Community girls golf invitational saw one of its own golfers win medalist honors on Friday afternoon. Junior Mya Skov won the individual competition shooting a 42 at Willow Creek Golf Course.
After a tricky start to the day, Skov says she was able to lock in and finish well on her home course.
A triple bogey on hole one can kill an entire round before it can even get some legs. That was not going to happen for Skov who birdied the next hole and got right back on track. She says that bounce back gave her a lot of confidence.
To shoot a 42 on nine holes, a lot has to go right. Skov says that happened for her with some minor complaints on her putting.
That 42 score is her best of the season and is something that could build some momentum for her. She says playing with confidence the rest of the season will be key.
Skov and the Bulldogs are back in action today when they host Sergeant Bluff-Luton.
