First-ever Ice Cream Days Scooper Hero Eliza Sitzmann
It’s a bird…it’s a plane….it’s a Scooper Hero!   Eliza Sitzmann, daughter of Cassie and Joe Sitzmann of Le Mars was named as the first ever Scooper Hero.  The seven-year-old was chosen by drawing from close to 30 entries.  Wednesday morning she dipped the first ceremonial scoop of ice cream to officially kick-off the Ice Cream Days Festival in Le Mars.
During a Community Coffee, the newly “caped crusader” talked to KLEM about the honor.
Beth Meyer, manager of the Visitor Center and Ice Cream Parlor, talked about the rewards of being a Scooper Hero.
Meyer recalled last year’s kick-off for Ice Cream Days when former legislator Ralph Klemme scooped the first dip.
I Spy Ice Cream Scavenger Hunt
Another popular event during the Ice Cream Days Festival is the “I Spy Ice Cream” Scavenger Hunt on Friday and Saturday, Volunteer Rich Ziettlow says the hunt showcases the many unique restaurants, services, and retail stores in downtown Le Mars.
Partcipants can pick up the scavenger hunt sheets at any participating merchant including the Wells Visitor Center & Ice Cream Parlor, and Habitué Coffeehouse & Bakery.
