New Townhomes to be Built in Le Mars with State Tax Credits
The Iowa Economic Development Authority last week awarded $35.9 million in housing tax credits to fund new housing developments across the state. One of the new developments is being built in Le Mars, with 40 units of new townhomes scheduled to start construction next spring.
Axis Holdings, based out of Orange City, received $1 million in tax credits for the new development, called the Ridge Townhomes. CEO of Axis Holdings Tyler Spaans says they’ve noticed the need both for housing, and rentals for families specifically, in Le Mars.
Spaans says they’ve had conversations with the city about the need for housing.
Axis applied for, and received, tax credits to fund the new development. Spaans says they’re planning to build the development on the southwest side of Le Mars.
Spaans says the townhomes will feature three to four bedrooms, and that they’re targeting rent at $1,600 per month. The townhomes are expected to begin construction next spring, with completion by spring of 2027.
