FRIDAY SCHEDULE – August 31

(ORANGE CITY) — Levi TeBrink threw a 53-yard touchdown pass to Brennan Buss with 2:23 to play Friday night and then added a 13-yard touchdown run with one minute left to rally Le Mars to a dramatic 13-6 win at M-O-C/Floyd Valley.  The Dutch got a pair of field goals from Rafael Sanchez-Perry from 28 and 29 yards to carry a 6-0 lead into the final 2 1/2 minutes of the game before the Dogs’ electrifying finish.  The victory improves Le Mars’ record to 2-and-0 under new coach Gabe Tardive while the Dutch fall to 1-and-1.  Le Mars open district play next Friday night against Sergeant Bluff-Luton (0-2) at Jim Lorenzen Field at 7:30.

(LE MARS) — Akron-Westfield broke open a tight game with a pair of touchdowns in the final seven minutes of the game to beat Gehlen Catholic 29-9 Friday night at Jim Lorenzen Field.  The Westerners had fought their way to a 14-3 lead midway through the final quarter before closing fast.  Gehlen falls to 0-and-2 heading into their district opener next Friday at South O’Brien while the Westerners improve to 2-and-0.
