City Elections Scheduled For Tuesday

(Le Mars) — Tuesday is election day with communities throughout the state selecting their mayor and council members.  In Le Mars, there is only one race, and it is with the Ward I city council seat.  Incumbent John Leonard is facing challenger Clark Goodchild.  Goodchild is a Le Mars native and serves as a real estate broker.  He explains he is pursuing the city council seat to bring a fresh, and new perspective to the city council.

Leonard is an insurance agent.  He has been a member of the city council for nine years, and says he is running again to assist with the growth of the community.

The city of Le Mars has been fortunate to have economic growth and development during the past few years, and both candidates say they want to see the town continue to grow.

Leonard says economic growth and development may in turn, help keep many younger generations
in Le Mars.

Goodchild says he would like to see the city promote itself more, adding that we need to find a way to reduce the commutes of many families that work in Le Mars.
