Coach Schindler:  The boys ran well tonight.  It was a beautiful night to run and it shows in some of our times.  They boys have continued to work very hard in practice.  This has allowed us to cut some time over the past few meets.  We are very excited to compete at the War Eagle Conference Meet up in Hartley on Monday.  Our focus is on bringing home a team title.  We need to perform very well as there are lots of talented athletes competing on Monday in Hartley.

Coach Westhoff:  Tonight gave us our first real opportunity to run in good track weather. Early on, it was obvious we hadn’t seen this type of weather as several of our longer distance runners struggled in the sun, but we still got some quality times as the night went on. I thought Tiffany Woerdehoff had a good night hurdling and running in the Sprint Med and 4×200, and I was extremely pleased with Miyah Whitehead and Nevaeh Hodgson in the shot put. Hopefully, we can get the girls to do their best work on Monday at the conference meet in preparation for Districts the next week.

Gehlen finished a distant 4th place today to team champion Carroll Kuemper and runner-up Fort Dodge St. Edmonds as the two leaders were separated by only one stroke 332 to 333 in the final tally!  All those 3 foot putts matter!  Remsen St. Mary’s finished at 358, Gehlen at 371, Algona Garrigan at 373, and Storm Lake St. Mary’s at 400.

St. Edmonds Peyton Scott fired a 74 (+2), which featured a 42-32 card with 5 birdies and a bogey on the inward nine holes!  Garrigans Kyle Schaff and St. Edmond’s Mitch Badding tied 2nd at 77.  Gehlen’s Dylan Barthole was 8th with an 85 and RSM’s Adam Schwickerath was 9th with an 86.

Dylan Barthole had seven pars while Gabe Wiltgen led the Jays birdie hunt with two birdies and three pars.  It is worth noting that the Jays counting scorers had 15 OB’s (2 stroke penalties) and 7 three putts, 37 penalty strokes, and they lost the event by 39 strokes. 2021 LE MARS BULLDOGS BOYS TENNIS:

Le Mars boys varsity tennis played Sioux City Bishop Heelan last night. Varsity won 9-0, now with a 7-1 record overall. Le Mars travels to Council Bluffs on Friday to face AL and TJ.

Kaden Wingert continues his strong play at the varsity one spot, winning 8-1. He has won 36 out of his last 37 games in singles play. Kaden continues to elevate his game to an elite level of tennis.

Kade Calhoun started playing at the varsity six spot against Spirit Lake and moved his varsity singles record to 3-0 tonight, winning 8-2. He’s doing a great job moving his opponent all over the court.

Matt Ahlers and Michael Meis picked up another shutout win at number one doubles, winning 8-0. When they are serving the way they are now, they are a really tough pairing. In addition, they’re starting to move well together to control the net.

Jaxon Baumgartner and Ryan Brown stayed perfect on the season, winning 8-2 at number three doubles. The chemistry these two have is unparalleled. They just know how to bring out the best in each other.

Overall, the guys are starting to find their stride as we approach the end of the season.
