Gehlen Catholic Boys Golf win War Eagle Conference Tournament Title at home

The Gehlen Catholic boys golf team claimed the War Eagle Conference tournament championship with a team total of 319 on Monday at Willow Creek Golf Course in Le Mars.

The Jays were not messing around when they teed things off on Monday morning. Head coach Nathan Carlson says the guys did a good job of taking care of business on the green which kept their scores very low.

The four scoring golfers for the Jays all finished in the top nine on the individual leaderboard leading to the team win. Coach Carlson says he knew each golfer had that capability on their own, but it was reassuring to see them all do it at the same meet.

What the Jays showed on Monday will be something they need throughout the rest of the season if they want to get to state for the second year in a row. Coach Carlson says the confidence they played with on Monday could lead them to success if they use it the rest of the season.

The Jays finish off the regular season with a home dual against MMCRU on Monday, May 6. They then head to George for sectional golf on Wednesday, May 8.
