Gehlen Catholic girls basketball stumbles in middle quarters vs Woodbury Central

The Gehlen Catholic girls basketball team dropped their fourth game in a row falling to Woodbury Central on Monday night by the score of 57-42.

The Jays were in control early taking a lead into the second quarter and put together a good finish to the game. Head coach Brandon Schaecher says the girls were playing with confidence during those portions of the game.

During the middle quarters, the Jays were outscored 32-16, and that ultimately decided the outcome of the game. Multiple long scoreless droughts hurt the Jays considerably. Coach Schaecher says they were lacking a bit of aggressiveness during that stretch.

The Jays now sit at 4-11 on the season before hitting the War Eagle Conference schedule intensely the next few weeks. Coach Schaecher says stretching the beginning and end of the game effort into the middle quarters will be a key in the next few games.

The Jays are at Sibley-Ocheyedan for a back-to-back night of action before heading to Marcus to take on MMCRU on Friday night. You can hear the Gehlen and MMCRU game on KLEM Radio starting at 5:45.
