Le Mars Arts Center to present Jane Schultz memorial exhibition and retrospective
The Le Mars Arts Center has announced “Jane Schultz: An Artist’s Life,” a memorial exhibition and community retrospective honoring the life, art, and legacy of longtime Le Mars artist Jane Schultz. The exhibition celebrates Schultz’s decades-long creative practice and the profound influence she had on the cultural life of the community.
Schultz was a beloved local artist whose watercolor paintings captured the character and beauty of Le Mars and the surrounding region. Over the course of her artistic life, she developed a deeply personal style shaped by years of study, experimentation, and a lifelong curiosity about the visual world. Her work often depicted familiar local scenes, translating everyday moments of small-town life into vibrant compositions that reflected her warmth, attentiveness, and deep sense of place.
The exhibition will feature a selection of Schultz’s artwork alongside community reflections and materials that highlight her artistic journey and the role she played in fostering a love of the arts in Le Mars. By bringing together artwork and shared memories, Jane Schultz: An Artist’s Life invites the public to celebrate a life devoted to creativity, family, and community.
The exhibition will take place from now until April 3rd, with a special visit from Schultz’s daughter Paula on Wednesday, March 18th from 3-4pm.
