Le Mars Volleyball Prepares for First Season Under Coach Wolles

Le Mars volleyball begins a new season with a new head coach. The Bulldogs begin the 2022 season in a week under the direction of new head coach Jessica Wolles. Wolles has made sure she spent a lot of time with the team so that she could make strong relationships as soon as possible.

Wolles says those relationships are big especially with a Bulldog program that has nearly 50 players in it from freshman to varsity.

The Bulldogs return nearly all of their roster from last year’s team that finished 7-28. This includes two key positions in libero Sarah Brown and setter Payton Wright. Coach Wolles says their play on the court will be vital in leading this team to success.

As a young team last season, mistakes were unfortunately common for a Le Mars team who hit .073 and served an efficiency of .904. Coach Wolles says improving their efficiency all around will be key.

In trying to be more efficient, that means limiting mistakes. However, Coach Wolles knows that she can’t demand perfection. She says it’s important that her team doesn’t dwell on mistakes long so that they don’t turn into more mistakes.

As the Bulldogs enter the final week of practices, they are trying to get themselves game-ready. For Coach Wolles, that means making sure rotations are set for optimal cohesiveness on the court.

The Bulldogs open their year with a tournament at Sheldon on August 25. KLEM Radio will be broadcasting select MRAC volleyball matches throughout the year beginning on September 1 with a road matchup at Council Bluffs AL.
