Downtown Water Main Break

(Le Mars) — City water crews are busy trying to repair a water main break that occurred this morning at the intersection of Central Avenue and Plymouth Street.  The frost line has gone deeper than most years due to the lack of snow cover along with the extreme frigid cold temperatures, and today’s warm temperatures is causing the water mains to expand and break.  Downtown businesses had their water shut off during the time of the repair.  Water has been seeping into the basements of downtown businesses.  Westbound traffic on Plymouth Street, or Highway 3, is limited to one lane of travel while repairs are being made.
