Le Mars Volleyball Ends Season at Bishop Heelan

The postseason came to a quick end for Le Mars volleyball on Tuesday night as the Bulldogs ended their season with a straight-set loss to fourteenth-ranked Bishop Heelan.

Le Mars’ defense has kept them in games in a lot of scenarios this season, and it was no different on Tuesday night. Sarah Brown had 18 digs, and Holly McNaughton had 14 digs as part of a 68-dig night for the Bulldogs. Head Coach Jessica Wolles says the offense couldn’t keep up with their defense.

Brown’s presence at the libero spot was crucial for Le Mars on many occasions. She’s one of the few starters returning for the Bulldogs next year. Coach Wolles says Brown came through even after a position change to start the year.

The Bulldogs graduate nine seniors off a team that finished 7-28. Coach Wolles says they were a cohesive group that will be missed.

The look ahead to the future involves some bright spots for the Bulldogs. They proved time and time again to have the skills on the floor to be a winning team. Coach Wolles says next year they’ll need to improve their confidence to be successful.

Bishop Heelan improved to 22-14 with the win and will now take on ninth-ranked Lewis Central on Thursday night.
