The Hinton boys track and field team picked up their first meet win of the season in Kingsley on Monday night at the Panther-Wildcat Relays.
The Blackhawks may not have been wowing with their prior performances in the team standings this season, but they have been wowing with their individual results. They have already set a school record, and it is no doubt that more will be coming in the future. Hinton head coach Steve Diediker says competing against some bigger schools in bigger meets to start the year has prepared them well for this style of meet.
The relay teams came to compete on Monday for the Blackhawks. Hinton won the Sprint Medley, the 4×100, the 4×200, the 4×400, 4×800, and finished second in the distance medley. Coach Diediker says there is a lot that goes into a good relay, and the kids have been doing all of it to start the year.
The Blackhawks have been running a lot of guys in multiple events so far this season meaning health will be key. Coach Diediker says continuing to get stronger will hopefully help keep everyone on the track in good health for the rest of the season.
The Blackhawks will be in action this weekend for the annual Sioux City Relays at Morningside University.
