Le Mars baseball ends season at No. 10 MOC-Floyd Valley

The Le Mars Community baseball team ended their season on Friday night with a substate quarterfinal loss at No. 10 MOC-Floyd Valley by the score of 10-0 in five innings.

The Bulldogs had the tough assignment of facing the Dutchmen ace in Brooks McCarty who has already committed to play baseball at Iowa. That made run scoring difficult, but head coach Trent Eckstaine says his team still put some baserunners on to make things interesting at times.

The Dutchmen earned their top-ten ranking throughout the season with their bats as well. MOC-Floyd Valley put up six runs early on the Bulldogs in the second inning, and that set them up for more success as the game progressed. Coach Eckstaine says that also thwarted the plan the Bulldogs had with their pitching staff.

The Bulldogs end their season in the substate quarterfinal round and will graduate five seniors off the team. Coach Eckstaine says they all played a vital role in leading the team throughout a tough year.

Thankfully, the Bulldogs got the chance to play some younger athletes at times throughout the season. Coach Eckstaine says the younger group has some promise, but they need to remain dedicated to continue improving as they move forward in their high school career.

Le Mars ends the season with a record of 3-30. MOC-Floyd Valley will take on Spencer in the next round on Monday night.
