Christmas in Hometown Le Mars

Thousands of people flocked to the Ice Cream Capital of the World over the weekend to enjoy Christmas in Hometown Le Mars activities and entertainment.  Saturday in downtown Le Mars was filled with Bingo at the Ice Cream Parlor, Breakfast with Rudolph, kids and adult crafts, a Christmas Carnival, Santa and Mrs. Claus, and live reindeer to name just a few of the highlights.  More than 200 took part in Santa’s Fun Run and Walk.

The day’s festivities culminated with the tree lighting ceremony at the Olson Cultural Event Center featuring music by the Browns and performances by Central Dance Academy and The Turn Around.

Mike & Cheryl Wells served as hosts of the evening ceremony.  Cheryl Wells offered the standing room only crowd words of thanks……

 

And then Mike Wells, lead the crowd with the countdown to light the 26 foot Christmas tree……

During the ceremony the winners of the store window holiday decorating contest were announced.  Claussen’s received first place and Simpatico Décor took second place honors.

The winners of the “Find the Joy in Christmas “Scavenger Hunt were also drawn from all the entries during the evening festivities.  Third place went to Kylie Dreckman, Second place- Amy Schipper, and First place was awarded to Kendall Schultz.
