St. Joseph Church Ready For Dedication
(Le Mars) -- The new St. Joseph Catholic Church in Le Mars is scheduled to be formally dedicated on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Doors will be open prior to the dedication. Bishop Walker Nicless will be handed the keys to the building by Ryan Wiltgen of Wiltgen Construction, the General Contractor for the church, and Kevin Strehle from BCDM, the architects of the new church. Margi Moir is a lay pastorial director with St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She talks about what is scheduled to happen during the dedication ceremony.
Moir says there are many artifacts from the old St. Joseph church that have been preserved and utilized in the new church.
The daily chapel's altar was refurbished from the casing that once held the old pipe organ, and it also contains many artifacts that were used at the St. Joseph Church from Neptune.
The lay pastorial director says it was important to the people of the church that they preserved pieces from the past and incorporated into the new church building.
Moir talks about the church's different features that will most likely capture the attention of the congregation upon first entering the church.
Next week the new church will have several activities including the Gehlen Anointing Mass,
Community Day is scheduled for Wednesday when the church will host the weekly Chamber coffee, and on Thursday is Clergy Day.
